SHE.

Updated: Mar 30

My friend Sophia, who is an occupational therapist, tells the story that when a Zulu mother goes to the doctor for an ultrasound and a boy is announced, the parents rejoice. But when a girl is announced, they will say, "Are you sure? Check again."

This is the beginning of an identity war. Sophia has started a program in her hometown of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, called Nginguye, which in isiZulu means, I am She.

Havilah Collective is planning how we can partner with Sophia in her delightful program for young girls to remind them that indeed, they are beloved and desired from the moment they enter this world.
